What happened to Banon?

In Final Fantasy VI, the main characters became members of a group called the Returners. With the Gestahlian Empire attacking cities all across the world, the Returners are formed to opposite them. Their leader was named Banon, who actually joins the party for a short time. Banon has access to the pray command, which is a healing spell. His presence
on the team is very helpful, even though it doesn't last very long. Does anyone know what happened to him?

After Banon goes to Vector and finds it in flames, there is no mention of what happens to him. I think he was killed by the Empire, or maybe he even died during the end of the world.

Hi. It just kind of shows how V1 was made back when the player still had to use a bit of their imagination to fill the gaps. As opposed to modern game writing. Even the villains had no motive, and an excess of character making you feel less and less for each one's individual story.

Yeah, Banon is a temporary playable character in Final Fantasy 6, and is the leader of the Returners, a secret resistance formed against the Gestahlian Empire. He may have been killed by the Empire or died during the war, but the developers of the game refuse to say, so you can use your own imagination for his ending.

I tend to forget about those types of characters, but I have to say I like the using your imagination as to what happens, although it would also be kind of nice to know officially.
